They formed, became the biggest band in the world, and then disintegrated all within six years. The tension between founding members Sting, Andy Summers, and Stewart Copeland led to what some call the second British invasion. Even though they have a short lifespan, they created numerous hit singles like “Roxanne,” “Every Breath You Take,” and “Message in a Bottle,” that will stand the test of time.
The last studio album The Police released was Synchronicity. By its release in 1983, they were already the most popular band in the world. The album consists of hit songs, “Wrapped Around Your Finger” and “King of Pain". This proved to be the beginning of the end for the band, as the members recorded their sections for the album separately so they wouldn’t have to come in contact with each other. After the coinciding world tour, they broke up until a reunion tour in 2008.
